Visit Finland is inviting single travelers worldwide to apply for an all-expenses-paid, four-day food trip to Finland that ends with a blind group dinner date. Sixteen people will be selected for the Finnish Dinner Date, eight for Helsinki and eight for Tampere, and the trips will take place between 9 and 19 February 2027. Applications close on 10 November 2026.
This will be an unforgettable culinary adventure where pure nature, authentic flavors, and meaningful connections come together. The event will feature one of Finland’s official tasting menus – and will be shared as a blind group date with like-minded travelers and local Finnish singles. You may discover a new favorite food destination. You may find a connection. Either way, this is your chance to go on the world’s most epic dinner date.

The initiative, called Finnish Dinner Date, features four-day itineraries with sightseeing, saunas, and group dinners featuring menus by leading chefs. The campaign was inspired by a grocery store trend where shoppers use pink baskets to signal they are single. Applicants aged 18 and older must submit an English video answering a specific question on social media and complete an online application by 10 November 2026.
Each city offers a different version of Finland. Helsinki has its waterfront, its architecture, and city life. Tampere, on the western edge of the Finnish Lakeland, is surrounded by forests and lakes and is known for its sauna culture. Each dinner will serve an official regional tasting menu. Chef Adele Kinnunen will cook in Helsinki and chef Henry Tikkanen in Tampere.

The dinner date is the latest part of Visit Finland’s “Have some Finnish” campaign. The campaign aims to make Finnish food a reason to visit, rather than something secondary to the scenery. Earlier in 2026, people across Finland were asked which dishes best represent their regions. Leading chefs then turned the answers into four official tasting menus. They served two to a first group of travelers in September. The Helsinki and Lakeland menus are the last two.
Most people set their dating-app radius within a reasonable drive of home. Finland is making a case for expanding that search by a few thousand miles—especially when the trip comes with free flights, hotels, and four days of sightseeing.

Visit Finland calls Finnish food “Europe’s last undiscovered cuisine”. It admits most visitors can’t name a single Finnish dish. Examples include creamy salmon soup, fried vendace, and Tampere’s black sausage with lingonberry jam.
